Intriguingly, mathematics is not just
a subject but a prevalent global language. The panoramic view of mathematics
unravels its plethora of Greek symbols interwoven with algorithms and logic
that’s accord it semblance of clandestine code, eventually deciphered by higher
octane reasoning. Initially, I aspired to emulate the path of my parents and
curve a career niche in piloting. However, my zeal and enthusiasm for
mathematics have been overruled by my childhood aspiration, and it inspired me
to pursue a career many miles adrift from piloting-Actuarial science. “If people don’t believe that Mathematics is
simple, it’s because they don’t realize how complicated life is.”J.L Neumann. I
assume that the above saying is more sensorial to me than any other living human
being; thus, it elaborates my passion and addiction to mathematics. From
humongous to infinitesimal, mathematics is well-entrenched to me as a
fundamental ingredient.
“Overview and history of statistics
for equity markets” by John Lehoczky
implies there is the employment of major theoretical developments such as
martingale theory of stock price to induce the statistical data relative to the
value of the stock. Therefore, it provides the ground in evaluating the prices
of stock regarding market investment.
The theories and models on the stock have compelled me to become an
actuary to develop profound insights on the subject matter.
My deep comprehension of mathematics
has grown exponentially during my schooling years and my feat of scoring 100
marks to become Top in World for Cambridge AS-Level Mathematics paper May/June
2021 series has encouraged and challenged me to propel my arithmetic skills a
notch higher. I find bliss in learning statistical and probability modules
which are prerequisites for successful analysis of financial risk in the stock
market a basis for an actuarial career. Having being ranked as the top student
in my five years stint in high school, my valediction speech was centered on
risk and uncertainty. In particular, it after is after I read Peter L.
Bernstein’s ‘Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk’ book. The book premises are on risk variation and
the development of mathematical probability. Besides mathematics, scoring an A
in Physics, Chemistry and Biology emanate my abilities to solve puzzles with a
calculated and analytical approach and balloon my awareness on the manner laws interlocked
to mathematics shaping the universe. Being handed opportunities such as
participating in competitions such as World Maths Day Mathletics has prepared
me for mathematics in the actuarial science realm.
In my tenure in high school was involved as
Sports House captain, Secretary of the prefectural board, Director of
Entrepreneurs’ Club and Vice President of Science and Mathematics Club. Being
handed such responsibilities avail me with opportunities to develop various
crucial qualities that include but are not limited to leadership, managerial
skills, entrepreneurship skills. This quality resonates with an actual science
career that not only requires academic excellence but also exuberant
interpersonal skills. In college, I served as the incumbent Student Welfare
director of Student Councils, a position salient in addressing students overall
wellbeing. Through it, I have acquired a
strong work ethic mindset and in conjunction with assuming leadership in
leadership camp, mandated to explore strategies to provide aid to the old needy
folks have to impart passion and aptitude it utilizing mathematics for a greater
course.
I volunteered as the Maths tuition teacher to
teach primary kids in high school. Subsequently, after college online tutor to
teach Python and Scratch coding classes for young kids. The undertakings in
conjunction with administrating coding tuition platforms have sharpened my
skills in dealing with financial management and building financial models.
Apart from academics, I am fervently
about Go chess and Board games such as Settlers of Catan”, “captain sonar”,
“Avalon” etc. These fancies and hobbies are taking care of my mental conditions
and sharpening both my mathematics and management skills.
